Paolo Deganello

 

Graduated in 1966 at the Faculty of Architecture in the University of Florence, Paolo Deganello has begun his professional activity in 1963 restoring Orsamnichele in Florence in collaboration with Massimo Morozzi, on order of the “Commission for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage for the province of Florence. As urban planner, he worked from 1963 to 1972 for the city of Calenzano (Florence) to plan all the urbanistic tools( planning instruments) of the municipality, in collaboration with the architect L.G. Boccia. Recently  graduated, he founded the "Archizoom Associati studio" in Florence with architect A. Branzi, G. Corretti and M. Morozzi, and worked with them until 1973. The whole activity of this studio has been published by Roberto Gargiani in “Archizzom Associati 1966-74”, while the studio's projects have been donated to CSAC (Centro Studi e Archivio della Comunicazione) of the University of Parma. In 2010 two anthological expositions were dedicated to “Archizoom Associati studio” activity, in the Politecnic of Losanna by Roberto Gargiani and in the “Ospedale degli Innocenti” in Florence by the Urban Departement of the city. Since ’73 Paolo Deganello has been working on his own in Milan. All his works from the beginning until 2009. are accurately collected and explained in “ Paolo Deganello as rasoes do meu projecto radical” ,editing coordinator Maria Milano,publisher ESAD (Escola  superior de Arte e Design in Matosinhos) in association  with Camera Municipal de Matosinhos.


Architectural and restoration projects: restoration of Orsanmichele ('65-67) and Teatro di Montecarotto ('72); house Porto in Catania ('71); restoration, renovation and furnishing of a farmstead in Varano ('80-'84; '98-'99); restoration and furnishing of a little square in the Zurich's old town center -  Rossliglasse - ('83); restoration and furnishing project of Stephanel shop in the Florence's old town center - Via Calimala – ('90); restoration and renovation of a nineteenth-century farmstead on Iseo LakeRestoration and Interior design of two Art Decò shops in the Verona's old town center ('98); Interior design of the hall restaurant for Aventis Society's directors in Lainate (2001); project  of an underground wine cellar of 5000 squares meters for Can Rafols dels Caus in Spain ( 2002-2008); the construction of the resort annexed to the wine cellar is currently underway.  

Design projects: furnitures' design for Cassina, Marcatrè, Driade, Planula, Ycami Collection, Venini, La Murrina, Cidue, Zanotta, Tribu' (Fr), Artelano (Fr), Vitra Edition (Ch), SteelCase (U.S.A) Dressing design with “Archizoom Associati studio” and design of a system of furnishing for Stefanel's shops. Art Director of Impruneta Spa, a brick tuscany factory ('94-'98). Design of a chair called “Intemporal” in five copies for the event “Art on chairs”in Paredes (2012), since 2014 exibited in the Triennale Design Museum in Milan.

Exhibitions: participation at the 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, Triennale in Milan; "Nouvelles Tendances" exhibition at the Centre Pompidou of Paris ('87); "Documenta 8" in Kassel ('87); installation for the “Ace Gallery in New York” (2000); participation to the “Exercise in Style” at the Park Tower Hall-Ozone of Tokyo (2001) and many others... “Design Maciço” into “ Casa de  Cultura de Paredes” ( Pt), an exhibition entirely made with shavings of different materials supplied by recycling factories.

Personal exhibitions: at Binnen and Van Krimpen Gallery in Amsterdam ('88); at the "Japan Design Committee” in Tokyo ('91); at Clac in Cantù (2001).

Didactic work: professor for the Master programe in Design at “Domus Accademy” ('91-'92); professor of product design at ISIA (Superior Institut of industrial Arts) in Rome and Florence (1991-2011); professor of biodesign at ISIA in Florence for the Specialisation Degree in Product Design (2007-2011); professor of product design for the Design Degree at the Faculty of Architecture in Alghero.(2008-2011) Lecturer in seminars and conferences on design at "Architectural Association " in London (‘71,’72,’74), at the "Domus Academy" in Milan (‘90-’94), at the Hochschule der Bildenden Kunste Saar in Saarbrucken ('99,'00,'01), at the Royal college of Art in London ('97), at the Faculty of Arquitecture of Venice (IUAV) for some intensive courses (2010, 2011). Promoter and founder of “Isiatelier” at ISIA of Florence,(2003-2005) a laboratory dedicated to designing ethic and sustainable products for three years. Guest professor for the Interior Design Degree of Maria Milano at ESApD in Matosinhos  (1998-2013)(Portugal).
